Eat to Live - Day 15 (Tuesday, June 4th)

Well I lost another 2 lbs. Putting me at a total of 9 lbs.  Beth also lost another 2 lbs. Putting her at a total of 11 lbs.  I usually loose faster than her, but I'm glad she's kicking my butt.  Tonight we went to the park for Ariana's Bridging ceremony and everyone was bringing something to eat.  Of course someone brought little pigs in a blanket.  I looked at them and wasn't interested.  Someone brought sweet corn and man it tasted sweet.  I was sure there was butter on these cobs, but they assured me there wasn't.  The hummus had a few ingredients I wasn't sure I was suppose to have, but that's OK I justified it knowing I wasn't going to eat the yummy cup-cakes my wife made.  How did she make cake without being tempted?  I guess I did that 2 Saturdays ago when making Risi's cake - which i did have to nibble the cake and frosting to make sure it tasted right - really it was a small piece.  Anyway - I'm starting to want something different than water -  I think I can have green tea but I want it cold.  I 'll find something.

Eat to Live - Day 14 (Monday, June 3rd)

We finished Day 14 - Four more weeks to go, but it is weird to count down the six weeks now cause I can see getting use to this type of eating but I'll decide then.

Today we tried a new Pear Salad. I love pears and this was the first salad in two weeks that I just scarfed it down.  The goodness consisted of mixed greens, chopped walnuts, rice vinegar, olive oil, currants,  & grated pear.  Garnished with more pear and walnuts.

Eat to Live - Day 13 (Sunday, June 2nd)

Before church I had my usual Fruit, Nuts, & Oats and I didn't get anything at church.  Our pastor asked me if I was losing weight, but I think it was more that I got a haircut, but it was nice to hear.  We had a birthday party to go to today, so we just went home to have leftover Bean enchiladas.  The party wasn't too hard.  There was mint chocolate chip ice scream cake, which was easy to turn down cause I don't like that kind of ice cream and lots of candy and punch.  I really wanted the punch, but I stuck to the water.  After getting home I ate some cherries and Beth tried a new meal.

It was Brown Jasmine Rice, with potatoes, cauliflower, and mushrooms.  It was good, but I had to put pepper on it.  Pepper is becoming my friend.

Eat to Live - Day 12 (Saturday, June 1st)

Fruit, Nuts and Oaks
Portobello Mushroom & Potatoes/Asparagus
Bean enchiladas

As you can see, I ate a repeat of some meals I have grown to like.  And I'm pretty surprised that my daily meals consist of all vegetables or fruit, without dairy or meat. Im just shocked still.  Today I went to my best friends house to help him redo his back lawn.  Doing that much works makes you real hungry and I just wanted to eat normally today because i wanted some comfort from the pain I was in.  I was out in the sun a lot and I was getting headaches.  I needed ibuprofen so I took some today, I think during the detox Im suppose to abstain, but I just couldn't.

Eat to Live - Day 11 (Friday, May 31st)

Wow, wow, wow!  If you try this new way of eating and you feel you have to have meat, then trying this Portobello Mushroom will give you that kind of satisfaction.  It was absolutely amazing!   I also had a side of potatoes and asparagus, I missed the salt on the potatoes kinda, but overall it was fantastic.  I might even try the mushroom on a whole wheat bun, with guacamole as the spread, and plenty of romaine lettuce and tomatoes and it would be a great "burger"

Eat to Live - Day 10 (Thursday, May 30th)

Tonight was hors d'oeuvre night at our small groups and we brought vegetables with guacamole.  I don't eat guacamole,  I didn't even try it growing up.  Slimy green stuff looks disgusting,  but i knew that this was what I was going to eat for the night.  It was good.  I think trying all this new stuff is starting to work out for me.  It was a small group of people and I hate to say this but I am glad one couple didn't show up, because they were going to bring meatballs and that would have been a huge temptation.  It was definitely easy to eat right tonight because of that.

Eat to Live - Day 9 (Wednesday, May 29th)

Today we had a company meeting and even though I brought my lunch with me I decided to try the vegan pizza they bought.  It was really good.  I was pretty afraid to try it cause there were these huge pieces of garlic on them and I was sure I would get heartburn from them.  And what would these huge chunks taste like?  Well turns out they were roasted, and roasting them makes them less potent.  I didn't even get heartburn!!
